I have now seen one of the best movies of this year. I was truly amazed by this picutre - by the acting,
by the story, by the not-overly-used special effects. Wow.
This pic starts out normally enough, or normally enough for what you'd expect in something called The
Sixth Sense. And as it progresses it draws deeper very slowly, however, no matter how 'into' this movie you get, I severely
doubt anyone could predict the ending. This movie has such a twist as I haven't seen since Alfred Hitchcock's classics. There
are hints at this twist throughout the movie, which once you've seen the ending you can go back and analyze and say, "I should've
realized that" but you DON'T put them together during the movie.
There was one moment that made my stomach turn in this movie. It has to do with Haley-Joel Osment's
character, another young man who happens to be a ghost, and an apparent shooting. It was quite shocking. But it was not the
unnecessary gore seen so often in movies today.
I congratulate the director and the writer and the producers on making an absolutely amazing, marvy,
and in the end, creepy movie.
But the acting!!!! Oh, the acting!!! Who knew Bruce Willis could act so tremendously?!?!?!? Who knew
he could act at all?!?!?!?! Bruce truly made the movie for me, but that was perhaps I went into it with the opinion that he
would completely suck it up. And the little kid! Haley-Joel Osment captured this little boy in a way that actors twice and
thrice his age who have taken too many acting classes to count couldn't capture ANY character. This little guy has an amazing
future ahead of him, IMO. I hope he and his agent make some wise choices for his future roles. (I'm forced to wonder, wouldn't
he have made a better Anakin that Jake Lloyd????)
Anyhow, this is one movie I am going to buy the very moment it comes out on video and DVD. :-) This
is going into the books as one of my all-time favorites - and I've only seen it twice!
